2/07/16: Day 2: Finals
The finals almost all have an exciting development. Noord-Brabant get the honour to kick off in the finals Girls 04-05. The youngest team loses with the closest score against their older colleagues after an exciting game.
Girls 02-03, we see another Dutch final in which the Selection team of Rijnmond is stronger than their Noord-Brabant opponents.
In the category Boys 04-05 an thrilling game between the French team of US Créteil and the unbeatable tigers of Taiwan. Wun Chang finally win (17-19) against a superb Créteil, coached by Antoine Ferrandier, professional player in Créteil.
In category Boys 02-03, Wun Chang cannot beat the at least 2 years older team of Stella St.-Maur (Paris) and lose 11-22.
That same Stella has to give the victory against Selection Rijnmond in the category Girls 00-01.
Excitement and suspense till the end in category Boys 00-01, opposing Belgian Achilles Bocholt and Stella. Commotion at the jury table when a discussion rises on the correct score. Table, referees and the Antwerp delegate have all different scores at minute 10 in the second half.
The game finally continuous and ends with a draw: extra time of 5’. A painful mistake in defence by the French team gives, at 3 seconds from the end the winning goal to Bocholt (14-13).
A real thriller to finish a tournament in a fully packed hall.
2/07/16: Start of day 2
The weather is fine to start Day 2. All teams are present after last evening’s party and the exciting game between Germany and Italy in Euro 2016.
Some qualifiers still have to be played and soon we’ll be ready for the semi-finals and finals.
2/07/16: Day 1 Qualifiers, rainshowers later on
Day 1 of the qualifiers started under a lucky star. All the teams present, a fine atmosphere as well as the weather.
Starting in the afternoon, rain forced everyone to play inside.
In the evening once again a delicious barbecue and afterwards both football lovers as well as dancers could enjoy a splendid DJ set from DJ Merlo
1/07/16: Town parade an revealing the Fair Play Trophy
At 7 PM, the annual parade of all participating towards the town square, started.
The musical vibes of DJ Merlo and dances from dance group Jam were great. The yearly tournament song, Nae Nae from Silentó warmed up the audience.
For the 11th time, local artist Antoine Boute, surprised us with the Fairplay Trophy which was revealed by the Eldermen Van de Velde, D’Haeseleer and Depuydt.
The Golden Handball, the first trophy of the weekend was won by Stella St.-Maur for their great club song.
After the parade, all participants saw the football game Wales – Belgium. The result, unfortunately is known.
